James, a servant of God and the Lord Jesus Christ! -

Trials call for wisdom!

So now we understand that this letter that James had written, was to the Church,  and is not for everyone but is written for a specific group, the body of Christ or the Church.  To be part of the body of Christ, we must be washed from our sins, born again in the Spirit of God!  We are a new creation and Jesus is our Lord.  We are servants to the Lord because He loves us and showed His love for us in this, while we were sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

So let us move ahead and learn from Pastor James, lessons for living in a manner pleasing to God!

Our passage is chapter 1:2-5.  In this, James gets right to the point in explaining the purpose in facing trials of many kinds.  James of all people would have a solid grasp on this lesson.  James grew up in a very unique family, his brother (in the earthly sense) was Jesus his Lord.  James knows all that Jesus went through, as His own people rejected Him.  Finally they rejected Jesus to the point of killing Him on the cross.  Now James is telling these Christians to consider it pure joy whenever you face trials.  Joy, because James knows full well of what God can do through trials.  Why does James need to tell us this; because you and I don't like trials!  We can easily be discouraged and so James is using a wonderful gift God has given him, the gift of encouragement!  We need it don't we! I have been encouraged by many when times were hard (trials) and I want you to know that it was much needed and appreciated!  James is encouraging us to persevere through these trials.  He points out that there is a reward, maturity so that we are not lacking anything.  He knows that the purpose of trials in our Christian lives is to make us complete or mature, perfect.  This reminds me of Jesus words in Matthew 5:48 where He tells us to be perfect, as our heavenly Father is perfect.

Now to be honest with you, all this encouragement wouldn't mean much, if it didn't come with a prescription for dealing with trials.  Its easy to say to people "you hang in there, things are going to get better, just hang in".  Words that may sound good, but if you have ever experienced real pain in your life, you need help, not just words! So now look at verse 5 and discover the prescription for victory, wisdom!  If you do not have the wisdom to get through trials, ask God and He will give generously, without finding fault!

Isn't that great to know that you do not have to rely on people, you can rely on God because He will give you wisdom!  That is the purpose of this web site, to share Godly wisdom from the Word of God, the Bible!  It is the source of wisdom, but you must be willing to ask God for wisdom and know that He will deliver! As we move ahead in this wonderful letter from James, I pray that you will benefit from the wisdom that is found here, it is packed!
