James, a servant of God and the Lord Jesus Christ!-

Who can you call?

Now it would be silly to tell anyone to ask God for anything, if we didn't bother to have an understanding of prayer!  We are so blessed to have this bible, the Word of God, His communication to us.  In His communication, He tells us how to communicate with Him.  Prayer has great power but many people do not understand the principles for prayer.  Have you ever encountered a person who is not a Christian, because they have never put their trust in Jesus for salvation, but when times are tough, they mention prayer? I know of many people like this.  I am sad to say that these people do not understand prayer.  They are convinced that God is simply a magic and invisible person, who is waiting for them to call out and make a wish. The god they are thinking of, is a god that they have invented in their own minds, and because they know so many who have a god like theirs, it must be right. If they think that God, the true God, hears everyone when they make their wish, wrong! Good thing you are reading this so you can get the truth!

James 5:16 tells us "The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."  In John 9:31 you read "We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly man who does his will." And 1John 5:13-15 (another letter to the Church and not to everyone) "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.  This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him."  Isn't that great, to know that if you are made righteous by trusting Jesus as your Savior, and you are doing the best you can to live in a way that is pleasing to Him, God, the real God, the true God-He hears you and does what you ask of Him! That makes so much sense to me, because if I am living to please God, my prayers are going to be directed at asking something of Him that He wants to do!

So as you read James 1:6-8 think about this, who can you call? And will He deliver if you are asking Him to give you Godly wisdom? Surely God will give you wisdom to live a life that is pleasing to Him, it's His will, why wouldn't He? He loves His precious children.

"Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God"  John 1:12
