Daily Proverb - Proverbs, Chapter 24

"By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.  A wise man has great power, and a man of knowledge increases strength;"

Several years ago, I was engaged in a conversation with a man who held a management position in the company he worked for.  The nature of the business was retail sales.  He spoke of how amazed he was at the intelligence of a former employee.  The former employee had figured out a way to take money, from the bank deposit that he was responsible for making, in the company account each day.  He would send in the receipt but the money never got to the account, it was in his pocket.  By the time his employer figured it out, the man had taken a large amount of money.  You may be wondering why this manager was amazed at the intelligence of the crooked employee.  He told me that it took time and intelligence to figure out how to do that.  He said too bad this guy didn't do something good with his intelligence!  He said, a man with his ability could have made great things happen, but he was only focused on how he could get away with cheating. 

When you read the above thought taken from Proverbs 24 today, it is obvious that it takes effort to make good things happen.  Remember that intelligence alone can get you in trouble, as it did, the crook in the example above.  But a man with wisdom and understanding, he is a man who puts his time to good use.  A wise man does have great power because he will increase in knowledge and use it to do good things.  In our Proverb we see how knowledge was needed and used to fill a house with beautiful treasures.  Ever watch the Antique Road Show? The Bible you have is the greatest treasure on earth and it was given to us by our Creator!
