Daily Proverb - Proverbs, Chapter 26"Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be like him yourself." "Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes" Does God hate fools? I don't think so, but after reading the first 12 verses of chapter 26, you might start to think he does. The word "fool" or "fools" is used in 11 of the first 12 verses. If you have been reading a chapter each day of the month, you had to notice, that very often fools are mentioned! Did you know that the words "fool" or "fools" are mentioned 73 times throughout all of the 31 chapters of Proverbs. Please do note, God wants us to be aware of fools and foolishness! Look at verse 11 "As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly." Do you see the comparison here, a fool is compared to a dog who returns to its own vomit!!! I have seen dogs do that and it isn't a very pretty sight to see! Its not a pretty sight to see a fool repeating his folly. One thing that I am convinced of, God does use the fools of this world to teach us wisdom. One of sure characterizations of a fool is that he doesn't learn from his foolishness. In fact, do you remember those class clowns in school? fools weren't they. Here they had a teacher who was trying to help them better themselves, and all they could do is clown and they didn't learn. In fact, they kept others from learning. As you read and study the bible, I hope that you will take note of the fool! You can learn from him, even though he can not learn from the wise. He thinks he is wise and that attitude is the very thing that keeps him a fool. Do you know any fools? if you do, I would advise you to keep a safe distance from them. A fool usually wants to make others fools too, because he can better enjoy his foolishness if he has company! That is the point of the 2 selected verses above, go ahead and read them again.
