Daily Proverb - Proverbs,
Chapter 27
Proverbs 27:1 "Do not boast
about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth"
As I looked at Proverbs chapter 27
today, the first verse certainly got my attention.
Not long ago, I visited
my Aunt in the hospital in Philadelphia. She was taken there just two days
earlier. She was told that she had cancer and she wanted the very best
care, she was advised to go to Philadelphia. We had a great visit,
her spirits were very good. She was bent on fighting this cancer, even at
an age where some people would be tempted to quit. She had every reason to
live!
Just eleven days after this
visit, she passed away.
The will to live is great, but not always enough to wipe away deadly disease.
I will miss Aunt Jean! She was a very kind and bright person. She
cared about others and made a difference in the lives of many people. As
an elementary school teacher, she was given the opportunity to help mold young
minds into doing good things. She was blessed to have a great man for a
husband, he was her will to live.
As we think about today's selected
verse, from the Word of God, consider that you do not know
what tomorrow will bring forth. It may be a great day and you may be
blessed at what you receive. But it could be your last day on earth and
this may be your day to leave behind fond memories for others. This is a
good day to read Proverbs 27:21 and ask yourself the question, "What do others
say about me?".
