Daily Proverb - Proverbs, Chapter 30

"those who are pure in their own eyes and yet are not cleansed of their filth"

"This is the way of an adulteress: She eats and wipes her mouth and says, 'I've done nothing wrong.' "

When I was a child, my mother accused me of smoking cigarettes, she said she could smell them on me.  If you have ever smoked or have been around people who do, you know the evidence speaks loud and clear.  I said with absolute conviction to Mom, "no way, not me Mom, I don't smoke".  Well as time went on, my Mom figured out that her son was a flat out liar! Pure in my own eyes?  Or was it fear of getting caught, because I knew that my parents would be very upset. Maybe I just thought that there was nothing wrong with smoking, after all, everyone smoked, my Dad smoked, so how could it be wrong? Well I am happy to say that I stopped smoking many years ago, and my Dad did too!

Are you one of those people who is pure in his own eyes?  Do you think that you have never sinned?  Perhaps you believe in the scale theory.  You put, what is in your opinion, sin on one side of the scale, and on the other side, you put what you think are acts of righteousness, and you always win because the scale always tips in your favor.  I have good news for you, you're wrong!  Why is that good, because it's the truth and all this time you have been believing the lie.  You may be one of those people who wipes their mouth and say I've done nothing wrong'.  You may be pure in  your own eyes and yet, you are NOT cleansed of your filth!  Now you are reading this and realize, that it is time to come clean! Just throw away your scale because it is not working and never will!  You will never be cleansed until you understand how lost you are.  Please, confess your filth and ask God to forgive you.  Tell Him that you now understand and want to come clean.  If you have never accepted His free gift, which washes away your filth, tell God right now that you want the gift of cleansing provided by God, through Jesus Christ our Lord!

"If you have played the fool and exalted yourself, or if you have planned evil, clap your hand over your mouth! For as churning the milk produces butter, and as twisting the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger produces strife"
